PATRYCJA PIĘTKA is a painter, stage designer and creator of installations, a graduate of the Faculty of Painting
Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow; diploma titled "Vargtimmen/Godzina wilka" realized in prof.
Professor Miroslaw Sikorski's studio, she defended with distinction in 2022.Since 2020 she has been studying
also scenography at the same university. She is a finalist in the 46th Biennale of Painting Bielska Jesień 2023.
In her work, Patrycja Piętka often uses the motif of night and vanitas associated with
passing. Her series of paintings evoke feelings of melancholy and anxiety in the viewer. In a sensitive
way she captures the emotionality of nature, painting is a kind of spiritual quest for her.
The artist draws on philosophy and her work is firmly rooted in one of the basic disciplines of
philosophical discipline that studies the properties of being, which is metaphysics. She also draws her inspiration from
film culture and literature, following the psychology of the characters and the specifics of building tension,
symbolism and understatements hidden in the layers of reality. The first individual
show of the artist's works was the exhibition "Depth" (Art Agenda Nova, 2021). In January and February 2023
the artist's works were presented at BWA Bielsko-Biala in the exhibition "You lie down and wait for sleep.
You don't fall asleep right away," at the group exhibition "Hidden Life. Child in Polish contemporary art"
CCA Ujazdowski Castle, at the individual exhibition "To tell the anxiety" at the Culture Center
Art Tower in Kalisz, and at the group exhibition "Landscape of Polish Painting" at the
Zachęta National Gallery of Art.
