From the series METRO [in marker].
Piotr Czajkowski is a graduate of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź, Poland.
Strzemiński in Łódź, where he has been working as a lecturer since 1999.
In 2020, he was awarded a postdoctoral degree thanks to a dissertation whose
subject was a series of METRO paintings and drawings. The series was started by the artist,
when he visited Paris, and to this day it remains one of the main axes of his work
and concerns travel, time and the search for answers to existential
questions. A great agglomeration, is not only the surface of the metropolis,
grid, hustle and bustle of the streets, but also an underground - inner city
woven with numerous lines and transfer stations. Their names are the titles
of the artist's individual paintings. It can be thought that the hidden duality of the title of the
series also offers the possibility of two interpretations. The first understood
as a road taken physically, and the second as a symbol of the inner journey of a
of a person.
