Stanislaw KRZYSZTAŁOWSKI
1903 Lanczyn - 1990 Cracow
Studied at an art school in Lviv, and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest during the war. In 1947 he received his diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He was associated with this city for the rest of his life, from 1947 showing his works in district and individual exhibitions. He also taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, running a painting studio in the Graphics Department. He was awarded a silver medal for his lifetime achievement by the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow. He participated in the National Art Exhibitions in Radom (1948, 1949) and in Warsaw (1950, 1952 and1954), in the Exhibition of Painting in the Fifteenth Anniversary of the People's Republic of Poland, National Museum, Warsaw 1961, as well as in successive editions of the Festivals of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin (1964-1968, 1972). He mainly created landscapes, including a series of Albanian views, exhibited in Tirana in 1955, and numerous Tatra landscapes. His style evolved from realist convention, through stylization and simplification, to allusive abstraction, towards which he moved in the second half of the 1950s.
