Work description:
Stanislaw Rodziński has taken up the theme of still life with vanitas overtones in his painting. The canvas is formally dominated by the artist's characteristic dark colors and the expressive texture of the painting layer. In the composition, plunged into darkness, the eye is caught by a bright human skull, symbolizing the fragility of human life. Next to it is an open book, the white pages of which have been left unwritten - this element also contributes to the vanitative overtone of the whole representation.
