Biography
In 1979-83 he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he received his diploma in the studio of Stanisław Rodziński and Zbylut Grzywacz. At the same time, from 1980-1984, he studied philosophy at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Cracow. From 1998 to 2004, he worked as a teacher at the European Academy of Art in Warsaw. He does painting and drawing, and is the author of numerous exhibitions (both during martial law and now). Author of texts on art published in "Tygodnik Powszechny" and "Znak", among others. In the 1980s, he actively participated in the opposition movement of independent culture. At that time, his distinct formula of painting was appreciated and identified with the tradition of "Krakow figuration", which he co-created with Grzegorz Bednarski and Aldona Mickiewicz. In 1996 he made polychromy in a church in Lubien, and in 2001 in Harbutowice near Sulkowice. Since 2004 he has been affiliated with the University of Rzeszow, where he leads the Monumental Painting Studio at the Faculty of Art. In 2003 he defended his doctorate at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, and in 2005 his habilitation thesis at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice.
