pastel, marker on paper, 1980s, 16 x 21.5 cm, signed and dedicated at the top of the composition: "à Marie actrice de | Cricot 2 | Tadeusz | Kantor" and dated and described at the bottom: "Zapatera Prodigioso 1953 Cracovie".
The work, made by Tadeusz Kantor in the 1980s, is most likely dedicated to Maria Górecka, an actress at the Cricot 2 theater. It depicts a fragment of the set design from the play "Charming Shoemaker" based on a text by Federico García Lorca, for which Kantor prepared the set design, costumes and staging for the Silesian Theater in Katowice (the premiere took place in 1955).
Attached is an opinion piece written by Lech Stangret.
