Biography
Vladimir Baranov (born 15.10.1948, St. Petersburg) was a fellow of the Academy of Art Sciences in Almaty from 1970 to 1974. In 1975 he was appointed chairman of the Federal Association of Visual Artists in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan. From 1979 to 1981 he was a member of the Union of Painters of the USSR, and from 1981 he was admitted to the Art Association of the USSR. Together with Professor E. Rosenblum, he co-authored the publication "The Law of Colors" (Moscow, 1981). He also taught master classes alongside professors such as Voznesensky, Konnik and Rosenblum. Vladimir Baranov is a creator of paintings, drawings, ceramics, wiformat sculptures and mosaics. His works are exhibited at the Russian State Museum in St. Petersburg, art museums in the cities of Pavlodar, Zielenograd, Karaganda, Semipalatinsk, as well as the State Gallery "Kaasteev" in Almaty and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 1997 Baranov has lived and worked in Cologne, Germany.
