Wojciech Brewka
Color painter, street artist, creator of large-scale murals, co-owner of officyna art & design gallery, originator and producer of the Przenikania Festival, Warsaw art dealer who in 2013 hit the auction halls of young Polish art.
Deconstructing both portraiture, allegory and animalism as a genre of painting, he places, among other things, images of animals on contrasting backgrounds in a surprising, camp, ironic, often social context.
Many of his works are part of the equality and environmental education trend, and the author himself is keen to support charitable initiatives. The painting ZOE was painted especially for this auction: neither the title nor the animal is accidental. The owl is a symbol of people with Apert syndrome.
He was supposed to become a lawyer, but chose a passion for painting, as did Jan Cybis, Józef Czapski, Henryk Gotlib, Eugène Fromentin, Wassily Kandinsky, Tadeusz Kantor, Juliusz Kossak, Édouard Manet, Józef Mehoffer, Henryk Rodakowski, Ferdynand Ruszczyc, Kazimierz Sichulski, Antonio Tapies, just to name the most famous.
He loves to create among family and friends. Because he is not afraid to take risks, he runs an art gallery with his partner, Anna, and invited his sons Gustav and Ignatius to paint together when they were less than 2 years old. He makes his workshop and exhibition space available to students of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, talented musicians, sculptors, organizers of academic sessions and off-site art activities.
