Top Pop (2): this is NGC's finest graded example! Approximately 50,000 examples were made for the 15 sols, of which no more than 20 are known. Nine of these examples are held in public collections: Bank of Canada = 3 copies, British Museum, BnF Paris, ANS, Colonial Williamsbourg Foundation, Smithsonian Institution, Henry P. Kendall Foundation. Other examples have appeared in various sales: Garrett (1980), Chapman's (1908), Partrick (2021), John J. With the sun of Pierre Cheval, Director of the Monnaie de Paris, and the tower of engraver Jean-Baptiste Dufour. Fine adjustment marks. With an old and homogeneous gray patina, this example is of excellent presentation for the most sought-after French colonial coin. TTB to Superb.
