A nicely preserved example of a rare variety.
Variety with PRVS/PRVSS legend ends.
A very rare 1532 Torun penny with a different bust.
Grzegorz Romanczyk described this type of bust as transitional and very rare. A stamp with such a bust and distinctive dissimilar punctuation marks was used to strike coins in late 1531 and early 1532, as Romanczyk is aware of coins with such an obverse stamp and different reverses from these two vintages.
The author of the catalog of these pennies referred to this variant as GT1532_22 with an assigned rarity of RRRR (4 to 10 known pieces) using this piece as an illustration of the variety.
Obverse: in the pearl rim the eagle of Royal Prussia, in the outer rim the legend started with a five-petal rosette:
GROSS*COMV*TERR*PRVSS*153Z;
Reverse: in the pearl rim a royal bust wearing a crown and plate armor, to the right, in the outer rim a legend:
*SIGIS*AND*REX*AFTER*TO*TOCI*PRVS;
