Biography
Studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1949-1950), then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Leningrad (1950-1951). He received his diploma from the Kiev Institute of Fine Arts in 1956, in the studio of Prof. Alexei Shovkunenko. In 1964-1970 he wrote reviews for the Art Review, and in 1972-1973 he edited the Polish Art Review - a quarterly magazine devoted to Polish art. He exhibited with the "Powiśle" group of painters, then in 1962-1976 with the Group of Realist Painters. His works are in the collections of national and district museums in Poland, a museum in Damascus, Havana and in numerous private collections. From 1981 to 1987 he boycotted official culture, exhibiting only at the Museum of the Archdiocese of Warsaw and abroad. Since 1972, multiple president of the Board of Directors of the Association of Polish Artists. Since 1977, he has taught painting at art colleges in Dresden, Wroclaw, Torun and Olsztyn.
