Woman as archetype / sign / symbol / paraphrase. The artist oscillates between figurative painting and abstraction. She creates a reality formed on new principles, where the body is subjected to numerous deformations, and the anatomical detail itself is only a superfluous detail.
A Polish painter, she graduated with honors from the Krakow Academy of Fine Arts in 1999. She has received numerous awards and honors in international competitions and exhibitions. Her paintings are in private collections in Poland and around the world.
"(...) ... I'm interested in man. I am interested in the woman. The female body is plastic, full of soft lines, curves. Characteristically, through the evolution of my painting, the face or other anatomical detail becomes a superfluous detail. It is no longer a woman in all her corporeality, it is a symbol, a paraphrase, rather an archetype of a woman - a sign. A woman outside of time. ...I feel a kind of uneasiness when my painting is called very feminine. Art should be free from such divisions..."
(...) in my paintings deformation is conscious. It allows the viewer to look for familiar shapes - it is a rebus. I want to create a world that is a reflection of reality, but one that will be formed according to new rules - my own. I aim to create a kind of aesthetics outside the generally accepted norms. An aesthetic that combines beauty and ugliness, movement and stillness, horizontal and vertical into one. My paintings are a kind of search for the unity of dualities."
