Eagle of the first pattern used by the People's Army of Poland introduced in 1943 for the 1st Tadeusz Kosciuszko Infantry Division. Referred to as the "Kosciuszko Eagle," "Piast Eagle," and colloquially as "kurica" due to its resemblance to a chicken. Designed by Janina Broniewska, it was inspired by the Piast eagle found on the sarcophagus of Wladyslaw Herman and Boleslaw Krzywousty, designed by Zygmunt Vogel in 1824.
Die beaten, it is made of very thick brass plate. Secondary mounting threads.
