Biography
Began studying painting at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts as a student of Christian Breslauer. After the fall of the January Uprising, he went to Munich and studied at the academy under Professor Fritz Bamberger from 1864 to 69. During his numerous travels, he made studies and painterly sketches from nature, which were later used to paint, already finished in the studio, paintings. He was most fond of painting mountain landscapes; often illuminated by the rays of the setting sun. He also painted seaside landscapes and gardens with ancient ruins. His paintings were critically acclaimed and popular with the public.
