"[Among those who] lack museum education do not sin. They are traditionalists, but they do not lend themselves to the tendency to archaize and follow either the youngest directions in French art or solve painting and sculpture problems on their own [is] Hayden, who most clearly and intelligently uses the influence of the art of Cezanne and Gauguin, but [shows] a distinct talent as a composer and complete originality in the decorative harmonization of color patches (...) ".
