Biography
Initially educated in Vienna, he later studied in the studios of Teodor Axentowicz and Jan Stanislawski at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 1902-03. He continued his artistic studies again in Vienna and Paris under Lucien Simon. After returning to Poland, he settled in Bielsko-Biala. In 1907 he exhibited in Cracow (with the Society of Polish Artists Art) and in 1908 in Vienna. In 1909-14 he stayed in Germany, where he exhibited with the Berliner Sezession, among others. During World War I, he fought as an Austrian soldier. After the war he returned to Bielsko, where he lived until 1939. In 1923 there was an exhibition of the artist's works in Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery, and in 1926 he exhibited at the Paris Salon des Independents. During World War II he stayed in Lviv, where in 1940 he participated with Lviv artists in exhibitions in Kiev, Kharkov and Moscow. He was primarily a landscape painter - he painted landscapes from the Tatra Mountains, the Żywiec region and Podhale, as well as genre scenes; he also worked in printmaking.
