Painter, collector, representative of the Munich school, creator of battle and genre scenes related to the period of the Napoleonic wars and the Polish legions. A pupil of the Warsaw Drawing Class, and Juliusz Kossak, from 1873 he continued his studies at the Munich academy, among others with Jozef Brandt. In 1882 he moved to England, and from 1884, with breaks for travel in Europe, he lived in New York. He exhibited his works in Cracow, Warsaw's Zachęta Gallery, Munich, Vienna, Berlin, London and Paris. In addition to his battle art, he was fond of painting hunting scenes, scenes in 18th-century costumes modeled on the paintings of Max Gierymski, and genre scenes from the lives of the aristocracy and wealthy bourgeoisie. His paintings were very popular with collectors, both German, English and American.
