Biography
He studied art in Wroclaw in 1920-21 at the Academy of Art and Artistic Industry under Otto Müller and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Jozef Pankiewicz. In 1921-24 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studios of Jozef Mehoffer, Ignacy Pienkowski and Jozef Pankiewicz. In 1923, he joined the circle of founders of the Paris Committee derived from among Pankiewicz's students. After his studies, he stayed in Paris. He participated in exhibitions of Capists at Galerie Zak in Paris and Galerie Moos in Geneva. He worked under the influence of French Impressionism and the paintings of Cézanne and Bonnard. He was the initiator of the colorist trend in Polish painting. His work was dominated by the themes of still life, nude and landscape.
