pastel, cardboard, 73 × 61 cm in light passe-partout
Signed and dated l. d.: "Jean Peské/1911"
Jean Peske's oeuvre consists of a wide range of subjects, but among them two areas of artistic expression come to the fore. The first is undoubtedly landscape painting, in which depictions of trees and forests were dominant, making the artist famous under the nicknames "la poète des arbres" and " forestier de la peinture." The second - warm-hearted scenes affirming motherhood: mostly depictions of a mother feeding her infant, but also images of mother and child in tender relationship during ordinary daily activities.
