Biography
He began studying painting at the Warsaw Drawing Class under Cyprian Lachnicki and Wojciech Gerson (1871). In 1875 he passed the exam to the Academy of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg, where he studied for two years in the studio of the painter-battleman Bogdan Willewalde. Then, from 1878 to 1882, he studied with Alexander Wagner at the academy in Munich, and also benefited from the guidance of Jozef Brandt. In 1882 he returned to Warsaw, where he settled permanently. He was active in the TZSP Committee, repeatedly participating in exhibitions. In 1891 he received an honorable mention at the International Art Exhibition in Berlin, in 1894 a silver medal at the General National Exhibition in Lviv, and in 1901 a bronze medal at the General Exhibition in Paris. He painted battle scenes, historical and genre scenes from the life of the Polish countryside.
