Joseph Warnia-Zarzecki (b. 1850, Nantes - date of death unknown), Polish painter born in France. Warnia-Zarzecki studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and at the Academy in Munich. He visited many cities and had the opportunity to familiarize himself with the methods and works of the German masters of the time. He left for Istanbul in 1883. He was appointed a teacher at the Sanayi-i Nefise school, which opened the same year. He was the first official pencil drawing teacher of the institution. Little is known about the painter's subsequent period, and the date of his death is unknown. Many of his works are in private collections. He taught at Sanayi-i Nefise from 1883 until his retirement in 1915.
