Biography
He was the son and pupil of painter Karl Friedrich Lessing. He studied at the academy in Karlsruhe, in the studio of Gude and A. Von Werner. An accomplished landscape painter, he painted romantic mountain vistas, often embellished with staffage. His paintings are in many museums and collections of 19th century painting, including Leipzig and Berlin's National Gallery. Born in 1852 in Dűsseldorf, he died in 1916 in Berlin. Son and pupil of Karl Fridrich Lessing. Student at the Academy in Karlsruhe where he attended the studios of Gude and A. von Werner. An accomplished landscape painter, he painted romantic, sweeping mountain views varied with staffage. His paintings are in many museums (including Leipzig and Berlin's National Gallery).
