Biography
Painter, son of Michał Stanko, associated with the artistic circles of Silesia and Zakopane. Educated in 1945-1947 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under Wojciech Weiss, Ignacy Pieńkowski and Fryderyk Pautsch. He worked at the Bielsko Drawing Film Studio and the Drawing Film Studio in Warsaw. Since 1956 he was a member of the Warsaw group of visual artists "Zachęta". He is best known for his Tatra landscapes. He also painted motifs from the Silesian Beskid and the Krakow-Czestochowa Jurassic Highlands, and less frequently took up genre subjects, portraits or nudes.
