Impasto-painted composition with urban architecture masterfully captures the space and its colors. A dense network of buildings fills almost the entire picture, enhancing the impression of their monumentality. Fans of Mela Muter's work will certainly take note of the motif - less popular than portraits or still lifes, but equally reflective of the artist's uncommon talent. The mood of the painting is built by the color range used. The richness of colors creates a harmonious, thoughtful whole, which is further enlivened by patches of light and shadow. Examples of other city views in the artist's oeuvre include depictions of Avignon, Collioure and Ondarroa.
