Biography
Representative of the Ecole de Paris, mainly associated with the Russian milieu. Born in Bialystok, he studied in St. Petersburg at the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1906, he continued his studies in Paris. He spent the years 1910-1918 or 1925 in Russia, then from 1918 or 1925 lived in Paris and continued his studies at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He spent the years of World War II in Casablanca, then returned to Paris. He exhibited at Salon d'Automne (1952-68), Salon des Beaux Arts (1956), his solo exhibitions were held in Paris (Galerie Zak 1951-52, Galerie Montmorency 1958), Brussels 1953, Nancy (1954), Sarrebrück (1955), among others. He painted mainly expressionist landscapes and portraits, and after 1945 also biblical scenes.
