Biography
German painter and printmaker, originally from Lodz, Poland. He received his artistic education at universities in Strasbourg, Karlsruhe and Dresden. After his studies he settled in Munich, from where he traveled to Italy, France and Russia. He was primarily an excellent landscape painter, but also painted portraits and genre scenes. His style was characterized by a distinct painterly texture, and he was considered an impressionist among his contemporaries. Otto Pippel's paintings can be seen in many German museums: in Munich, Leipzig, Mainz and Bonn, among others.
