Peter Kraemer II was the son of painter Peter Kraemer I, who returned to Germany in 1871 after an extended stay in America. In the same year Kraemer II began studying at the Stuttgart School of Art, and from 1874 studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Alexander Strähuber, Ferdinand Barth and Otto Seitz. The artist primarily painted genre paintings (Merry Ride, Little Politician, Hunter's Rest). He also painted portrait studies. He also used watercolor.
