Biography
Began drawing lessons in Cracow with Maksymilian Cerch. In 1873-74 and 1874-75 he studied at the School of Fine Arts in Cracow with Władysław Łuszczkiewicz and Henryk Grabiński. In 1875 he went to Vienna, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Christian Grieppenkerl and later in the landscape department with Eduard Lichtenfels. He made his debut at an exhibition at the Krakow Society of Friends of Fine Arts in the 1877-78 season, and moved permanently to Munich in the spring of 1881. He presented his works at exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Munich, Vienna, Berlin and Salzburg. In 1891, he received an honorary diploma of second class at the International Exhibition in London. In 1896, he took part in the painting of the "Tatra" panorama. He was an unparalleled landscape painter, capturing the lyricism and mood of the surrounding nature in small formats. His Polish-themed landscapes were highly regarded by art critics and collectors.
