Biography
Waclaw Pawliszak began his study of painting at Wojciech Gerson's Drawing Class, continued it at the School of Fine Arts in Krakow under Florian Cynk and Władysław Łuszczkiewicz, and in 1883- 85 in the composition department under Jan Matejko. He completed his artistic studies in Munich and Paris, where he received a bronze medal at the Universal Exhibition in 1889, thanks to which his paintings also appeared in art markets in Berlin and London. After returning to Poland, he settled in Warsaw; he traveled a lot - he visited Algeria, Morocco, Tunis, and lived in Rome for a year. The artist's favorite subjects were motifs related to the East-he painted genre scenes, battle scenes, horses and warriors, also court scenes and portraits. He died shot as a result of a personal dispute with the sculptor Xawery Dunikowski.
