Painter and publicist. Studied in 1885-93 at the St. Petersburg academy under P. Chistiakov and V. Yakobi. He supplemented his painting studies at the Düsseldorf Academy under E. G. Dücker and in 1897 under E. Petitjean in Paris. He traveled extensively painting landscapes of the countries he visited. From 1907 he lived permanently in Warsaw, where he worked as a drawing teacher at a junior high school. In 1921 he bought an estate in Lisi Jar near Rozewie, where he stayed constantly during the summer months, and where he taught seascape courses. He painted primarily landscapes, and from 1909 he painted almost exclusively seascape paintings.
