'Dorfweg', watercolour over pencil on paper, 27 cm x 36.5 cm sheet dimensions, signed, monogrammed, dated 13, titled, mounted, slightly creased in places, minimal foxing, provenance: Gallery Theo Hill, Cologne. The artwork is registered in the artist's estate. We would like to thank the estate of Erich Heckel, Hemmenhofen, for their kind support and for the information that the watercolour probably dates from Heckel's first exploratory trip to the Flensburg Fjord, where he later acquired a farmhouse in Osterholz.
