Biography
The artist studied at the Faculty of Humanities of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow (1945-47) and the Faculty of Painting of the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wroclaw (1951-57). Later she worked as a lecturer at the Wrocław University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture in the Department of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture (1959-1995). Since 1991 she has been working as a professor. Michalowska is counted among the first representatives of conceptual art in Poland, and in her works she explores the phenomenon of time and space. She works in painting, drawing and photography. Her works are in the collections of the National Museums in Wroclaw, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lodz and the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow, among others.
