Ryszard Szczepanik (1962-) graduated from the Department of Ceramics and Glass at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw, where he specialized in glass design. He designs and realizes glass objects in architecture. He has exhibited his works in group and individual exhibitions in Poland (including at the Zachęta Gallery and the Xawery Dunikowski Museum in Warsaw) and abroad, and has won many awards. Among his significant realizations, located in the public space, one can mention the Swiatowid in the "Copernicus" shopping center in Toruń or the Menorah in Cafe Chedar in Cracow.
The artist achieves a wide variety of effects in the glass surface; from the purity and precision of lines, characteristic of graphic works, through expressive drawing in the form of deep relief, to painterly effects - with haze and softness of light reminiscent of old photography on glass plates.
