Lech Majewski
Specializes in publishing and advertising graphics, but has longest been associated with the poster form. One of them, prepared for the 16th International Encounters of Jazz Vocalists in 1989, was among the hundreds of the most important posters from Europe and the United States created between 1945 and 1990. His posters (in the 1970s - painterly, then reduced to black-and-white graphics, and more recently close to "contemporary street aesthetics") are presented all over the world. He has won many international awards and prizes. He designs and mirrors books in Poland and Germany. Many of them win titles of the most beautiful publications of the year. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. He completed his diploma under Prof. Henryk Tomaszewski. He has his own graphic design and music studio. He teaches at the graphics department of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, as well as at many universities around the world. He is the President of the International Poster Biennale in Warsaw, Doctor Honoris Causa of the J.E. Purkyne University in Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic, and a recipient of the prestigious Ladislav Sutnar Prize of West Bohemia University in Pilsen. Awarded the silver and gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis.
