Alfons Maria Mucha was born in Ivančytsya on July 24, 1860. He died in Prague on July 14, 1939. He was a Czech graphic artist and painter, one of the leading representatives of the fin de siècle and Art Nouveau movements.

Mucha's work combines Byzantine and contemporary traditions. Mucha's trademark are prints of women in the belle époque style - an idealized figure of a beautiful woman surrounded by a narcissus of flowers and leaves, symbols and arabesques.
