Carl Wilhelm II Kolbe (Berlin 1781 - Berlin 1853) was a German painter. He was commonly called the Younger , to distinguish him from his uncle, engraver and art teacher Carl Wilhelm Kolbe. He studied at the Prussian Academy of Fine Arts under Daniel Chodowiecki. He was an award-winning and highly regarded painter of religious and historical scenes. He took great care especially with historical costumes. From 1815 to 1853 he was a member of the Prussian Academy, received the title of professor in 1830, and served on the Academic Senate in 1846.
