Helena Teodorowicz-Karpowska played an important role in the artistic life of the interwar period. The artist grew up in Warsaw, but studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts under Dmitri Kardovsky. She remained in Russia until 1921, and having returned to Warsaw, began her career in the reborn Republic. She belonged to the Vilnius Society of Artists and participated in its group exhibitions. She made a trip to Italy, from which she presented paintings at the 1929 General National Exhibition in Poznań (in the Society's section precisely). The artist exhibited her works at the Trade Union of Polish Artists, the Institute of Art Propaganda, the Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Society of Friends of Fine Arts in Cracow. A curiosity is her exhibition in Brazil in 1936. It was taken care of by the Polish-Brazilian society "Kosciuszko" and the association of Brazilian artists. It was held initially in Rio de Janeiro, then in Sao Paulo, and was finally transported to Argentina. After the outbreak of war, Teodorowicz-Karpowska joined the Home Army. She fell in the Warsaw Uprising.
