Biography
Creator of one of Poland's most popular comic book series "Tytus, Romek and A'Tomek," publicist and participant in the Warsaw Uprising, also known as "Papcio Chmiel." In 1947, he began working as a graphic designer and publicist in the editorial department of "World of Adventure," then in "Swiat Młodych," where he worked until his retirement. In 1950-1956, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. At that time he became known as the author of the continuation of the comic series "Sergeant King of the King's Horse", already as an individual author in "Half a Year of a Boomer" (1951) and "Witek the Clever" (1955-56). His work is mainly based on comic books drawn since 1957, whose characters are Tytus, Romek and A'tomek, until 2010 35 parts of the comic were published. The artist received the Order of the Smile, and in 2007 was awarded the Gold Medal "Meritorious to Culture Gloria Artis".
