Henryk Ożóg was born in 1956. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow under the direction of Mieczyslaw Wejman. Diploma prepared in the Copperplate Studio in 1981. Since 2002, he has led the Gravure Printmaking Studio at the Graphic Arts Department of his alma mater. In 2002-2008, he held the office of Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Graphic Arts. In 2008, he became the Head of the Department of Printmaking at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts. He is involved in printmaking and painting. Most often he works in graphic techniques using metal matrix. He creates mainly abstract compositions.
These include juxtapositions of unidentified shapes and lines as well as surprising combinations of everyday objects and the multiplied and transformed human figure. The artist has participated in more than 300 solo and group exhibitions. He has presented his works in Sweden, Germany, France and the United States. He is the recipient of numerous awards and prizes, including: Purchase Prize at the International Centre of Graphic Arts (Ljubljana,1991), Purchase Prize Award at the International Print Exhibit (Gilkey Center for Graphic Arts, Portland, 1997), Grand Prix Award at the 7th Polish Graphic Arts Triennial (Katowice, 2009).
