Illustration design for Stefan Zeromski's novel Vistula, published in 1926 by J. Mortkowicz. Variant not realized, where the fisherman could be interpreted as Wars. The edition included a version without the mermaid, and the fisherman is surrounded by a family - a mother with an infant and a schoolboy.
