Jacek Sroka - painter, graphic artist and illustrator. Born in 1957 in Cracow. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He has exhibited his paintings and graphics at more than one hundred and twenty solo exhibitions ( including in Cracow, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Paris, Tokyo, Berlin, Reykjavik, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Vienna, Curitiba, Beijing) and several hundred group exhibitions in Poland and around the world. According to him, the core of his work is imagination, which awakens sensitivity. He specializes in figurative art. In his works he mainly uses metaphor and grotesque, which he combines with elements of contemporary expressionism. He has won numerous awards (including the Grand Prix of the Vaasa Biennale of Graphics, 1987, the Grand Prix of the Seoul Biennale of Graphics, 1988, the W. Wojtkiewicz Award of the Association of Polish Artists, Cracow 2001). In 2002 he received the Witold Wojtkiewicz Award. His work to date was shown in a retrospective exhibition of graphic and painting works, which took place in 2008 at the National Museum in Cracow. His works can be found in numerous museum collections (including the National Museum in Krakow, the District Museum named after L. Wyczółkowski in Bydgoszcz, the Jagiellonian Library in Cracow, the Graphic Collections of the PAU, Cracow, the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., the Graphische Sammlung Albertina in Vienna, the Cabinet des Estampes, the Bibliotheque Nationale de France in Paris, the Utsunomiya Museum of Art in Utsunomiya, Japan, the Kumamoto Prefectoral Museum of Art in Kumamoto, Japan and the Musee Savoisien, Chambery, France). In June 2022, he became an active member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences
