Joanna Srebro-Drobiecka (1932-2006). She was born in Tarnów, Poland. She completed her artistic studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where she received her diploma under Prof. Waclaw Taranczewski in 1962. From the beginning she was an independent artist, creating her own visions. In no period of her painting did she compete with the trends dominant in this art. She remained faithful to her own way of looking at the world. She was an original, excellent artist, although little appreciated.
" (...) Joan's painting from the beginning was human, full of emotion, thinking, conversation and great discussion with the world. From the beginning, her art expressed, with the help of expressionist forms, various states of mind, a view of the world, it was only necessary to know how to read them, to know simply the language of painting." ... (Stanislaw Potępa, Catalogue of the exhibition "Joanna Srebro - flashbacks 1997" ).
