heliogravure, cardboard; 18 x 34 cm (light passe-partout), board 40 x 50 cm; marks under composition: l. d. "J.CHEŁMONSKI PXT", on middleground "FROM BRANDLA CLAY", p. d. "HELIOGRAV. ANGERER."

Below composition:title of painting in Polish and French; additional inscriptions: "Print of Tow. spread. Fine Arts in Vienna"; "MAIN STORE at MAURICH ROBICZK IN WARSAW ".

The graphic comes from the collection "Album of Polish Painters in Etchings" published in 1884. It was a pioneering publication on Polish soil of great importance for the dissemination of the work of contemporary Polish artists, especially during the partitions.

Victor Angerer (1839 - 1894) one of the most versatile Viennese photographers of the 19th century, owner of a publishing house and lithographic company. He photographed the imperial family, the Viennese aristocracy and well-known figures from artistic circles, as well as views of Vienna, architecture and interiors. Internationally known and respected in his era, he participated in the Paris exhibition in 1878 and the Vienna exhibition in 1873.

Maurycy Robitschek (Robiczek) - a bookseller, in 1872, together with Herman Altenberg, established their own bookstore and picture warehouse at 38 Krakowskie Przedmieście Street, under the name Altenberg and Robitschek. At the end of 1879, the bookstore passed to the ownership of Maurice Robitschek, who then began using a polonized version of his name: Robiczek.
