80x80 cm, manufacturing technique:mosaic made of dyed wooden shapes, year of creation: 2023
The composition of the painting "Pieces of the Silence" by Katarzyna Similak is abstract and full of mystery. The title suggests the silence and stillness that accompany this work. The artist does not capture a specific motif or form, but rather focuses on expressing emotions and mood through abstract shapes and colors.
The painting's technique is based on the author's mosaic technique, which uses stained wooden shapes. This is an unusual approach to mosaic, which gives the work a unique character and texture. The wooden shapes create a fascinating play of colors and textures, which adds depth and three-dimensionality to the work. The work is unique because of its unusual dimensions, having a diameter of 80 cm, which makes the work attract attention as a focal point of the space.Katarzyna Similak - Graduate of the Władysław Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. She earned her diploma in interior design in 2014 from the public interior design studio of Dr. Eng. arch. Andrzej Wachowicz, prof. of the Academy of Fine Arts. Winner of the Prize of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for artistic achievements in 2012 Participant of group exhibitions in the fields of drawing, painting and spatial activities. She is involved in interior design, creates original objects and mosaics. In her work, she pays attention to the symbiosis between man and nature: she is fascinated by external spaces and journeys into herself. She observes the changeability of forms in time and context, which she sees as a mirror of the human condition in the face of life's experiences. The time-consuming and multi-step creation of mosaics becomes an expression of cultivating the art of attentiveness and staying present.
