Author Rudolf Riege (1892 - 1959) is a German painter, printmaker and illustrator trained at the Weimar School of Fine Arts, where he was greatly influenced by Walther Klemm and his woodcuts. After the Great War, he continued his studies from 1919 at the Weimar Bauhaus, after which he devoted himself entirely to his work as an illustrator and printmaker, and the woodcut became the artist's main and recognizable means of expression.
