Biography
The artist is one of the most distinctive artists of his generation. He graduated from painting and interior design at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, receiving his diploma in 1968. Associated with his alma mater, in 1968-70 he worked as an assistant in the ceramics studio at the Faculty of Painting. In 1970, he presented the action "Tom Kawiak's Pain", during which he bandaged trees mutilated by city services on one of Lublin's streets. That same year he went to Paris, where he continued his artistic education at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Known for his original artistic activities, including the action of "briquetage", which involved leaving identical bricks fired in red clay, measuring 20 x 10 x 3 cm, in the places he visited during his numerous trips.
