Biography
Graduated with honors from the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw at the graphic design department. Since 1991 he has been associated with Nowa Fantastyka, for which he continues to create illustrations and comics. In September 1994, one of the most unusual characters was born in its pages. It is, of course, about Ratman. This rat-man was created by combining several characters (so different from each other): Professor X, the rat on which the scientist conducted research, and Mickey Mouse, who helped in the experiments. The scripts, full of strange, unreal, but charming and always surprising stories for the reader, are written by the author himself or supported by the pen of such notables of the comic book world as Maciej Parowski (d. 2019), or Grzegorz Janusz.
Niewiadomski has worked with magazines such as: Polityka, Rzeczpospolita, Życie, Kocie sprawy and many comic book publishers, where we could get to know his other heroes: Bolo, Nerwolwer, or Szmatan. Currently, he is particularly associated with Czas Fantastyki magazine. The hallmarks of his prolific work are absurdity, grotesque and surrealism. He took part in the famous "Koniec Latających Talerzy" exhibition featuring New Fantastyka cartoonists at the Museum of Caricature in Warsaw in 1996. Niewiadomski's works were featured in the sixth issue of Komiks Forum, published in October 1997, presenting the best Polish cartoonists on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of comics. In 2013, at the "Orbital Comics" competition held to celebrate the 540th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus, he won an honorable mention (together with screenwriter Grzegorz Janusz) for his comic strip "The Power of Cosmos." He is now one of the most recognizable Polish comic book authors, and Ratman has entered the canon of Polish comic book heroes and superheroes (the first monographic exhibition about Ratman was presented by curator Wojciech Łowicki at the 26th International Festival of Comics and Games in Łódź).
