autolithograph colored in gouache, signed and dated d. "1988 Wiktor Zin"
Wiktor Zin (1925 - 2007) was a professor at the Cracow University of Technology, an architect, served as the General Conservator of Monuments and president of the Society of Lovers of the History and Monuments of Cracow. For years, his television program 'By Pen and Charcoal' brought knowledge about monuments in an accessible and attractive way. It was illustrated with ad hoc created images and sketches.
Wiktor Zin was not only a respected draughtsman and painter, but his works also appeared in the form of graphic works. Most often these were high-volume offset prints present on the market and signed on the plate. Rare, however, are works similar to the one presented here. Here, the author made a sketch in lithographic technique, then supplemented the composition by hand with white gouache patches, enriching the colors and expression of the work, and signed with his own hand in ink at the bottom, giving the work the position of autolithography, that is, a work valued as integrally made by the author. The subject of the depiction is familiar from Zin's other works in lava ink, which he describes as "God the Father from St. Wyspianski."
