Biography
Painter, printmaker and pedagogue. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, 1910-14 under Jozef Pankiewicz, then, until 1918 under Wojciech Weiss. He also received a philosophical education (Jagiellonian University). In 1917-18 he studied museology in Vienna. Of his many activities, teaching and museological work are worth mentioning - Ossecki was curator of the Wilanów collection between 1934 and December 1939. After the war, he worked in art education and later became involved with the Ministry of Culture.
Ossecki painted oil landscapes, portraits, nudes and still lifes. He was a proficient printmaker, one of the most active artists in the Greater Poland circle of the 1920s in this field. He practiced woodcut, including color, as well as metal techniques. His printmaking succumbed to Formist and Ritualist art, among others, and in color woodcuts the influence of Japanese art is known.
