Zbigniew Kaliszczak (1903-1985)- graphic artist, painter, sculptor. Graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Stefan Batory University in 1932 with honors, graphic arts at the Leipzig Academy of Graphic Arts. Eager to experiment, he used a variety of techniques: etching, aquatint, linocut and, above all, drypoint, in which technique he published three portfolios entitled Vilnius (1928-1931). Realistically recreating the more interesting sights of Vilnius - churches, streets, alleys and courtyards - Kaliszczak used unconventional approaches. A certain dryness of the drawing, imposed by the laws of dry-needle technique, he tried to mitigate by skillfully introducing color.
